Selling with Data #26 - Computer, how can I create more pipeline?

Some general tips for enterprise sellers to create more pipeline could include:

  1. Identifying and targeting specific industries or companies that may be interested in their products or services.
  2. Networking with potential clients and referral sources to generate leads and qualified prospects.
  3. Using marketing and advertising techniques to reach a wider audience and generate interest in their products or services.
  4. Nurturing existing relationships with current customers and seeking out new partnerships and collaborations with complementary businesses.
  5. Providing excellent customer service and support to build trust and establish long-term relationships with clients.
  6. Continuously learning and staying up-to-date on industry trends and developments, and adapting their sales approach accordingly.

You know what is amazing about the tips above? I didn't write them. The Open AI project, ChatGPT did.

ChatGPT, launched last week, is an AI-powered chatbot that interacts with users in an eerily convincing and conversational way. ChatGPT is a prototype artificial intelligence chatbot developed by OpenAI that focuses on usability and dialogue. It took less a week to cross over one millions users, which is ridiculously quick. It's currently free to use with an OpenAI account during a testing phase.

The image below shows how easy it was to ask the question and get the answer I used to start this article.

As a data and AI nerd, I get excited any advancements like this that showcases new ways to use artificial intelligence to change and improve the way we operate. similarly to the way I support Siri and other home automation technology. Even though ChatGPT has only been out for a few days, interesting use cases already are starting to emerge,"These 8 Potential Use Cases of ChatGPT will Blow Your Mind!" It can?write poetry, correct?coding mistakes?with detailed examples,?generate?AI art prompts,?write?new code, and more.

The following are a few sales specific use cases for sales and marketers that demonstrate the possibilities.

  • An easy way to research a company, for example, "Tell me about [insert company name]" or "How can data and ai help [insert company name]?"
  • A clear way to discover the relationship between non directly correlated subject, for example "How does data and ai help enhance a banks loan origination process?"
  • A better way to improve selling skills - "What are tips for writing a prospect email?"
  • More information about what specific customer personas care about "What do data scientist value most?" or "What is the best way to communicate to a data architect?"
  • A good way to get a head start to edit - "What is a good marketing strategy for data and ai?"

With all the possibilities, I have two key questions about ChatGPT:

  1. How will ChatGPT, and conversational AI in general, change the way we sell?
  2. How do make sure we can trust and govern content?

Ok, here is where is where my mind is blown. Instead of leaving the two questions open, which I would usually do, I asked ChatGPT and the answers are great.

Here is how to try ChatGPT for free:

  1. Go to the ChatGPT site here, scroll halfway down then click on TryChatGPT. Register your account.
  2. Type any question. For example: "What are the top ways for enterprise sellers to create more pipeline?"
  3. ChatGPT generates an answer.

Please leave a comment on use cases for enterprise sales and how you are using ChatGPT, or AI more broadly, to grow pipeline and sales.

Good Selling.

I just tried it in German language and it works just fine. Some phrases do sound a bit borrowed from English but it is truly amazing how well it picks up on localized/cultural writing style when prompted correctly. And you can always re-run the query if you are not happy with the result.
