Still on the closure of Newshub, these are my 4 key takeaways from NewsTalk's Mike's Minute on the demise of the newsroom and some context around it. He summed it up really well. 1.?????Public broadcasting will continue - Commercial non-taxpayer funded media are always at the sharp end. 2.??? This is happening everywhere - The same story (closure, downsizing, restructuring of media companies) is being played out all over the world, no matter how big you are. 3.?????Competition is still needed - Laziness inevitably ensues when you have the whole place to yourself. Competition keeps you sharp. 4.?????Reinvention is key - It’s not the end of the media, it’s how you do it that’s clearly the difference.?

Navigating generational gaps can sometimes have unintended consequences especially in family businesses. As if that’s not tricky enough, there’s a new generational turf war that’s erupted over the use of the thumbs up emoji. To be honest I’ve spent quite sometime looking into this, because as a Gen X, I use the thumbs up emoji. A lot. For me it’s to simply to say something along the lines of yes, or I understand, or I like this. Nothing more and nothing less is implied or meant by it.
