Sella's Marketing NewsWrap: Monday May 3

Good afternoon LinkedIn community, hope the Mondayitis is relatively manageable today. Luckily, if it’s not, we have just the cure for it. That’s right, it’s our Marketing NewsWrap! This week’s wrap is as varied as ever. With new features from Twitter, LinkedIn’s top companies, and Apple security, to insights on Aussie phone usage and - you guessed it - more NFT news. Pour yourself a cuppa and settle in.

1. Twitter Introduces ‘Spaces’

Twitter has introduced a new in-app audio feature called Spaces. The idea is anyone with a Twitter account can host a conversation that all of their followers and anyone with a link can listen to — without a 280 character limit. The question is, how will this shake up the audio space?

2. Apple Tackles Transparency

Apple is launching a potentially revolutionary software update that includes a new privacy tool for iPhones and iPads: App Tracking Transparency. It will allow users to choose whether an app can follow their activities across the platform to share data with third parties, what will advertisers think?

3. LinkedIn Reveals Top 25 Companies

The 25 best companies to work for in Australia this year have been revealed - and according to LinkedIn, they are all hiring right now. We would advise against reading this while at your current place of work, as your boss could be watching over your shoulder.

4. Australian Smartphone Figures: Insights

Australia has adopted almost as many smartphones as the country has adults and the number of internet-connected devices in our homes has multiplied by six times in the past decade, according to a breakthrough report to be released this week.

5. Here’s How NFT’s Could Change The World

History has taught us to be careful about dismissing new tech as a passing fad. Many commentators dismissed the influx of tech companies around the dot-com bubble of the late 1990s, and the first wave of mass cryptocurrency enthusiasm in 2017, only to be proven hopelessly wrong when Amazon and bitcoin re-emerged. So, how important are NFTs, really?
