How Sales and Marketing Alignment Drives Sustainable Business Growth
Are your sales and marketing teams in sync, or are they working in silos?
Misalignment between these critical functions doesn’t just create frustration—it costs businesses revenue and opportunities. Aligned teams, on the other hand, achieve extraordinary results: 67% higher deal closure rates and a 209% boost in marketing-driven revenue.
This article dives into why sales and marketing alignment is essential and provides actionable strategies to bridge the gap. If your teams aren't working in harmony, it's time to take action and unlock your organisation’s full potential.

Is Your Team Struggling to Generate New Business?
As the year draws to a close, businesses are taking stock of their performance and planning for the year ahead. One challenge we've been hearing from many organisations is that their teams are struggling to generate new business. If this sounds familiar, it’s time to take a step back and reflect.
When a sales team hits a rough patch, it’s easy to point to external factors—economic conditions, market competition, or even individual performance issues. But to truly address the root cause, it’s essential to ask the right questions.
Here are a few we believe every business leader should consider when reflecting on their sales team’s performance:
1. How concerned are you about the next 6-12 months?
If you’re feeling uneasy about the future, that’s a sign it’s time for action. A slow sales pipeline today can mean missed opportunities tomorrow. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to catch up. If you're not confident in your team's ability to hit targets over the coming months, it’s critical to reassess your strategy and invest in the right areas.
2. Where exactly is your team struggling?
Is it prospecting? Is it qualifying leads? Or is it closing deals? Identifying the specific areas where your team is falling short is the first step in developing the right solution. It’s important to distinguish between a lack of leads versus a lack of skills to convert those leads. Without this clarity, any interventions you make could be too broad and ineffective.
3. What does your pipeline suggest about the team’s performance?
A healthy pipeline should have a mix of short- and long-term opportunities. If your team is struggling to fill the top of the pipeline, it may be time to revisit your lead generation tactics. If the pipeline looks healthy but conversions are low, then perhaps your team needs more training or resources on progressing opportunities.
4. How long can you afford to wait before investing in your team’s skills and capability?
The market is evolving faster than ever. The question is not whether to invest in training and development, but how soon you can afford to do so. The longer you wait, the more opportunities you’ll miss, and the harder it will be to turn things around.
If your team is struggling to generate new business, we encourage you to ask yourself these questions. Reflecting on your team’s performance, identifying gaps, and taking proactive steps to address them could be the key to unlocking greater success in the months ahead.
