Negotiate To Drive Results
The best way to sell anything is by negotiating to reaching an agreement. Selling is not just about making more money but it’s more about an open dialogue between two people that mutually want or need one thing in exchange of an agreement.
Agreements bring people and ideas together. Disagreements are unattractive and they get less done for everyone involved. If you are afraid of sales then you are afraid of having the proper dialogues in place to achieve high level agreement.
People that have differing perspectives need to hear each other so that they can meet at a common place to advance work and ideas. This only happens through asking relative questions in open dialogue and listening for ways to enter into an agreement. Engage in active listening or what I call “harmony listening.” Agreements creates a bond just as love does.
A solid agreement leads to harmony.
We live in our own worldview (which might not be reality) and we object to ideas that contradict our worldview. Objections throughout a respectful dialogue are inevitable but you have to be willing to accept change when agreement is really the end goal.
Understand that Objections are not rejections. Objections are real obstacles in the landscape of negotiation; however they should not hinder the progress of achieving your end goal.
Remember that the acronym “N.O.” means new opportunity. You have a new opportunity to state your case and convince others why your stance or perspective adds value to them. If you are unable to achieve an agreement then there may not be one that exist at the time of dialogue.
Have better dialogues by being prepared with all related information and consistent practice. You will sell more when you make more agreements.
