Selfless Service
In my humble opinion, high caliber military service is primarily based on one foundational appreciation. The pride that you feel swell within your chest when someone refers to you as an Airmen, Coastie, Sailor, Soldier, or Marine, has absolutely nothing to do with your own individual organizational contributions, but rather everything to do with the heroic sacrifices of those who wore the uniform before you in distinguished patriotism.?
It is in homage to their treasured legacies that current service members must continuously hold themselves accountable, as the standard for their own future performance.?For me personally, it was in humble reverence to those incomparable heroes that I attempted to dedicate my brief service, albeit exceptionally inconsequential in relative comparison.
That being said, always remember that war never determines who is right, it only decides who is left. So to those brave sentries still on watch in defense of our Nation, please train extremely hard every day for battle, and please also pray equally hard each night for peace.
