Selfies of the Mind: New Lens, New Filter, New View

Selfies of the Mind: New Lens, New Filter, New View

We've all heard the saying to get out of your head and into action, urging us to take steps to overcome self-doubt, eliminate procrastination, and stop worrying.

It seems effective for a while, until negative thoughts resurface, reminding us that we're not good enough, don't know what we're doing, lack skills, courage, grit bravery, strength, and questioning... why us?

These negative thoughts bring along a cascade of emotions—worry, anxiety, doubt, fear, frustration, anger, sadness, and more.

Suddenly, you find yourself back in your head...

This vicious cycle is one many can relate to.

For years, I was stuck in this loop of limited thinking, negative self-talk, and feeling inadequate for my life goals. I'm not referring to a grand purpose or meaning; that desire came later.

I'm talking about simple scenarios, like a public speaking engagement where anxiety gripped my body, leaving me at a loss for words.

Or negotiating for a higher salary, battling feelings of unworthiness and shame around money, fuelled by thoughts asking, "Who am I to ask for more?"

Juggling financial responsibility for my son while navigating the uncertain reality of being an entrepreneur also brought fear about building a stable and secure life for us. The list goes on, encompassing thoughts that each of us grapples with at some point.

Three years ago, I had an inspiration to embark on a creative project.

One where I could share my experiences on transforming the negative emotions tied to our thoughts into more neutral and positive ones.

A creative endeavor aimed at helping those who resonate with my journey experience life with a lighter backpack. We all carry a heavy backpack filled with stones—stones we pick up during our life journey, weighing us down mentally and emotionally.

But how can we learn to stop carrying these stones and unpack the ones that burden us?

At that time, I wasn't ready. I was still in the process of healing my own limited beliefs and overcoming past traumatic experiences.

Just as physical wounds take time to heal, it's equally crucial to invest time and cultivate patience when healing our emotional wounds.

Otherwise, when we share and help others, it might be from a place of pain rather than healing.

For the past three years, this creative project has lingered in the recesses of my mind. Periodically, it would stir, reminding me of its existence and the desire to come to life. I kept postponing—partly due to time management, but mostly due to fear of judgment.

What if it flops? What if people find it weird, and no one listens?

Such thoughts indicate that our ego is speaking, not our heart and soul.

I wasn't ready to share as long as I held onto these fears.

Three years later, I've cultivated a different mindset—one where I'm thrilled to introduce my latest creative project. It brings me joy and fulfillment to share, guide, and inspire, connecting with a higher purpose unrelated to my ego.

So, what is my latest creative project?

It's a second and deeply personal podcast titled "Selfies of the Mind: New Lens, New Filter, New View."

Selfies capture moments of how we choose to present ourselves to the world, often with filters to enhance our appearance and create a new perspective. Just as using a new lens allows us to capture different angles, impacting our filters and views.

This analogy extends to our minds.

Our thoughts are snapshots spanning our entire existence, from a young age to the present.

Thousands of them replay in our minds, some subconscious, others loud and forming our inner critic.

They tell us what we can't do because we're not enough, maintaining a limited view of who we truly are. We cling to limiting beliefs because they're familiar, even if they feel painful at times.

Introducing new thoughts is challenging, as it's easier to stick with the old ones.

This is why getting out of your head and into action is a challenge—emotions tied to these thoughts keep us stuck in familiar patterns.

When we overcome the emotion of our experience, the experience becomes wisdom." - Dr. Joe Dispenza

That's my intention with Selfies of the Mind, to help you transform your experiences into wisdom by developing new and empowering thoughts with more neutral and positive emotions.

To inspire you to find personal freedom within and not external to you. That's liberty which pertains to freedom of movement and is dependent on external conditions. But freedom is felt within when our mind and heart are aligned.

Some of you may think are you now transforming into a therapist Nadja?

Not at all, this podcast is not a replacement for psychological help or therapy, that's not my objective nor my desire.

My intention is to share my own experiences and journey in freeing myself from limiting beliefs, feeling at peace from within during chaotic challenges and change, and the emotional roller coaster of our human experience in today's digital decade.

The first episodes are live where I explain the foundation for Selfies of the Mind, the background and context, and what you can expect when you subscribe to this podcast.

As of next week, I will have another creative surprise for my subscribers, including being able to subscribe to your favourite podcast platform to tune in every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday evening to Selfies of the Mind, where you can apply a new lens, a new filter and develop a new view to life's most pressing and difficult challenges.

I would love for you to let me know what you think, share with me your challenges so I can record dedicated episodes to apply new selfies and help you lighten your backpack and put down the heavy stones you are carrying.

Thank you as always for your support, for your feedback and for your contribution to my mission of mental health and emotional fulfillment.

It is only when we free ourselves from suffering that we can find freedom and be at peace when life throws us lemons, and turn these lemons into exquisite lemon juice.

Or like the Italians would say, premium limoncello!

Love, Nadja ?? ?? ??
