Selfcare: Your Key to Health, Wealth, & Peace of Mind

Selfcare: Your Key to Health, Wealth, & Peace of Mind

When I turn 84 in December, approximately 2% of the population in the United States will be 84 or older.

That’s a pretty small number. So, I’m declaring myself a longevity expert.

It amuses me when I see advice about longevity online touted by people who are only 70 or even 60.

I can assure you that no matter how well you take care of yourself, by the time you get to 80 it’s going to be different. Ask Joe Biden.

But if you do decide to take care of yourself, the rewards will be enormous.

You will look better, move more fluidly, think clearly, and enjoy life more.

Selfcare is the key

I’ve been hanging out online in what is often called the prosperity space since 1997 when I launched ProsperityPlace.com.

Although a lot of people equate prosperity with how much money a person has, there’s a lot more to it than that.

I’ve been surrounded by wealth and celebrity most of my life and I learned early on that neither wealth nor celebrity makes a person happy or healthy.

Wealth and celebrity do have some advantages, but having either or both doesn’t automatically make life comfortable physically, emotionally, or financially.

Wealth and celebrity certainly don’t always bless you with peace of mind.

Care for your vehicle

The vehicle you are riding around in – your body-mind-spirit – is like the car you use to get around.

It requires a certain amount of maintenance, the right kind of fuel, and a basic understanding of how it works.

Unlike your car, your body-mind-spirit is among the most complex and difficult-to-understand machines you will ever encounter.

Here’s the kicker: There are no expert mechanics who know exactly how your body-mind-spirit functions.

This makes it difficult to get the advice you need to keep your body-mind-spirit functioning well.

Yet, if you make the decision to follow some basic principles, the natural system you are equipped with will lead you to experience health, wealth, and peace of mind.

The principles are simple and not always easy to follow

Here are a few:

1. All the answers you need are accessible by using your intuition to communicate with your Self.

It takes time to get to trust and develop a working relationship with your Self. Sometimes, you will be led in a direction that seems wrong. It may be because you also have to learn what’s not right for you before you find out what is right.

2. So-called experts don’t have all the answers. Use them as guides and remember that they don’t know your truth.

That includes doctors, coaches, and anyone who purports to be an expert, including me. Just because they have letters after their name doesn’t make them more important than you are.

3. Give your body-mind-spirit the fuel it needs to function properly.

It’s been proven that healthy living, like the Mediterranean Diet and exercise do help prevent serious disease. Make a commitment to yourself to learn to eat healthy, spend time each day quietly with yourself, get enough sleep, exercise, and learn to manage stress.

4. There is no perfect.

Whatever you’re doing today is fine for where you are at this moment.

By paying attention to how you feel in each situation you can decide whether to keep doing what you’re doing or change your habitual responses to familiar stimuli.

I will have more to say about all of this in the future. Consider this the beginning of a series.

Brilliant advice as usual! Comparing our bodies to vehicles is spot on. We sometimes pay more attention to the car than our bodies! As usual, I will be heeding your sage and brilliant advice. In my interview with renowned cardiologist Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn (Forks Over Knives) on The Motivation Show podcast he discusses the evils of oils and when removed from the diet, can help reverse heart disease. Oil is rarely thought of like sugar and salt as culprits, but 100% saturated fat in large quantities as we consume in America is a recipe for disaster. Remove the sugar and oil...and watch how diseases decrease radically.
