SELF-TALK
Replacing negativity with positivity

SELF-TALK

When my daughter, Lindsey, was only about 2 years old she would walk around in the morning saying, 'Where is my Barbie?' or 'Where did I put my book'? She still talks out loud and I am sure some of you do too. However, I am referring to self-talk. That negative stuff that floats around in your head bringing you down. Whether you are focused on a meeting you messed up, a cake recipe you have been wanting to do that fell flat, or a legal matter or medical situation you cannot escape. Keeping the negative self-talk active in your mind is an attack on yourself. I know it has for me.

I replace negative talk with positive talk and the sooner the better. Perhaps you made a cake and everyone in the family applauded you. Or, you watered your orchids and they are blooming. Or, you worked on a project or a sale and, felt really good about yourself. Replace the negative thought with a positive one. It doesn't have to be about the same thing. I know you are responsible and hold yourself accountable for your actions. Let it go. You have suffered enough. Negativity takes you nowhere while positivity propels you into prosperity. Just like any other routine task, replacing self-talk to the positive will take practice.

You are a warrior but do not be at war with yourself.

If you start your day with ten tasks on your notepad or in your mind to complete and typically fail, you have set the bar too high for failure. Try starting your day with three things and once completed add one more as long as you have the time and energy to do so.
