Self-motivation
It is very nice when you get motivation from your direct boss, but sometimes it does not happen and it is not precisely because there is bad leadership, it can be due to various situations. The purpose of this note is not to explore or justify the reasons why motivation does not come from outside, but rather the aspect of creating motivation for yourself.
Although I am aware that in companies we are in an ecosystem where we are all interdependent and interrelated, I have always maintained that the less you depend on others to do your work, the more you will be able to be the master of your destiny and ensure the result.
The same thing happens with motivation, if we leave it as the responsibility of someone who is not us, we leave it out of our power to be motivated, if it does not arrive, it will not be useful at all to blame the boss, the leader, the company or the circumstances.
The best thing is always to be the owner of our own destiny, and the same goes for other aspects such as training, development, goals, guidance, recognition, etc. If it comes, welcome it, and if it doesn't, don't let it. In order to stop our careers, we must have the ability to be self-directed.
Gestures like coming to the office on time every day in the morning, when your boss is far away or does not see you, speaks of a sense of responsibility, you do not need your boss to watch you to do the right thing, this is even a moral code, a responsibility to yourself, a good habit that is part of your personal heritage and that you will apply wherever you are.
Something similar happens with recognition, you and no one else but you know what a job well done is worth, what it costs, what it implies, the impact for the organization, but sometimes things are not as valued as you expect, Surely there is some reason, maybe the perspectives are different, maybe you fail to make your boss aware of the importance of the achievements or activities, as I claim in this note, it is about ruling out all the reasons that are out of your control. and directing yourself to the things that do depend on you.
Could I have made the egg squawk more? Should I have emphasized the importance of the issue, with all the effort it requires on your part and on the part of others? Don't look for blame or responsibility in others, because that takes you away from thinking about all the things you can do better to get better reactions from others.
When things don't happen as you expect, it is advisable to do reflection exercises, analyze all aspects, try to understand the perspective of others, why don't they see what you see?

You must look for motivation everywhere: in the satisfaction of a job well done, in teaching your team how to do things well, in developing others' careers by getting results, in your personal record of accomplishment. Celebrate the successes with your team, even if it means walking up to the mirror with a party hat, covering yourself in confetti, and putting a streamer on your lips, it is worth congratulating and celebrating yourself.
Every day, from the moment you open your eyes, there are reasons to be thankful: just waking up is another day of life, for the coffee your wife makes or you make, for having the means to get to work. Whether it's your own car, Uber, truck, for being complete, for having your two arms, your two legs, for being healthy, for having a job, an office, your own apartment, a computer that works, a day full of challenges and activities, a cafeteria, lunch, money to buy food, there are endless things that we de facto give and don't appreciate until we have them.
Being aware of each thing charges you with tremendous positive energy that you need to counteract any negative situation you face, because they will come: surprises, emergencies, urgencies, the day can become complicated in seconds, but they are not the things that happen to you. It is how you face them that will determine your level of humor and motivation.
A goal I usually set for myself every day is to do something really great every day, I don't always achieve it, I don't always get it, but the next day I try again, this approach makes me have more good days than bad.
Motivation is everywhere, in every breath, in every sound, in every interaction, in every discomfort, make it dependent on you and no one else, if something comes from outside, welcome it and enjoy it, if not, it doesn't matter, you have to learn to be self-sufficient. Take control of your life, don't give the steering wheel to anyone else.
Have a great and motivating week.
