Self-love: Taking care of yourself

Self-love: Taking care of yourself

These terms are being heard and talked about everywhere today. But, what do these mean??

In my conversations with clients, I have often observed many people misunderstanding self-love as:?

  • Taking out time to watch a Netflix series/movie
  • Eating your favourite dish
  • Going out with friends
  • Going to a spa?
  • Going for a trip
  • Listening music
  • Having a sound sleep

While self-love really is:?

  • Taking small breaks in between work to just simply breathe?
  • Being kind and gentle with yourself when you realize that you have made a mistake
  • Spending some time every day to write/journal your feelings, thoughts to understand yourself?
  • Allowing yourself to feel any and every emotion; sadness, anger, jealousy, excitement, and such.
  • Take out time every day to do activities that help you connect with nature.. and its silence.
  • Understanding what limits you and holds you back and lovingly encouraging yourself to overcome these inhibitions
  • Allowing yourself to take a break from "always showing up and performing"

Loving yourself is not a task-bound activity, instead, it is a practice to build ease in your ways.
