Self-Level This!

Self-Level This!

Major shout out to Jason Sultana and Bill Austin with Vector Concepts for inviting us to the table on such an important project.? Thank you for trusting us with your Floor Demo, Moisture Mitigation, & Underlayment needs. Also, thanks to UZIN UTZ North America, great products and the best support you could ask for by our reps; "Johnny on the spot" Kevin York, "By the book" Luis Mendieta , Mike "Teddy bear" Drechsel Mike Drechsel, & Angela "All business" Donovan Angela Donovan. It took a team of people to prepare and execute the success of this project, Professional Flooring Supply included.

How do you self-level a gym floor that is 67'wide & 83' long at 3" thick? Like John Candy did in the The Great Outdoors with the old 96’er. One bite at a time.

Day 1, we started to demo the wood floor and right away ran into a seemingly major unforeseen issue - saturated existing hidden sleepers from a previse install that was buried under self-leveling and incased in a mud-bed. For Uzin to honor all warranty's, they had to be cut out and removed. Jack Henderson said, “hold my beer, we got this!” After removing those nasty hidden sleepers, we had to prime with Uzin's PE 260 and fill in the gaps with Uzin's NC 170 self-leveling. Next, surface profile the floor to a CSP of 3 or greater. We achieved this by shot blast and then we put a flood coat of Uzin's PE 460 moisture vapor retarder. Followed by another prime coat of 460 with a sand broadcast to give it “teeth” to hold a thick pour of self-leveling. Next, we built our forms and self-leveled 2 and 3/4" thick pour of Uzin’s NC 170. After which, we sanded the floor and applied a layer of ?PE 260, and then poured a cap of NC 170 at 1/4"-3/8" thick. End result was an 1/8” tolerance across the enter gym floor. “accidentally cool”… All in all, we poured approximately 2,300 bags of self-leveling and could not have done it without rocking 4 hippo mixers by Portamix (Gerry Suckling). Our team has become very efficient with the porta-mixers. Finally, Jeremy with Vector Concepts installed the final floor finishes, and it was a home run. Nothing really says it better than pictures & videos.

Houston! We have a problem here...
Thank goodness tar and screeds wasn't everywhere, nasty.

Jeremy with Vector Concepts installed the final floor finishes, Boom!!!
