“Self-Improvement” is an inside job…

For days, I’ve been pondering the idea of “Male Mindfulness” Training…

I’ve seen countless studies endlessly noting the differences between men & women in ways that continue to separate us, and that do not allow for a “safe space” ~ in which men can further examine themselves internally & physically, in order to create the “healing” they struggle to find. Healing that would erase the need to control, discredit or manipulate others - namely Women. Until “Mindfulness” becomes global mainstream ~ I fear that “real” equality & respect for Females bodies will never be possible. No matter what Society endures throughout the Ages, I believe it is this "separation" between sexes that fuels multiple levels of suffering...

“Self-Improvement” is an inside job...

I’ve been lucky to have had a handful of amazing male mentors, but I’ve also increasingly endured countless acts of negative and downright inappropriate behavior from men over the course of 20+ yrs. But I still believe in men ~ in fact, I’ve worked mainly w/men throughout my entire Career. My most important male mentor is my Internationally recognized Ashtanga Teacher. He is fearless, in exploring the spirit through the body ~ where we continuously study “opposing forces” within the mind, as applied to Yogic Tradition. My Teacher’s selfless courage to be vulnerable; proactive & compassionate, as well as humorous ~ are always what inspires me to keep pushing through limitations that others impose on me, due to their own insecurities. I DO believe we can get better as a Society…(1) yoga posture & (1) breath at a time. And if you are really up for a challenge - perhaps throw in some lap swimming... ;)

Keep showing up; keep breathing, keep sharing, keep loving ~ yourselves…so you can endeavor to fully accept & respect any Human you meet.
