Self-funding your health insurance doesn't have to be hard.
Last year I participated in a keynote panel discussion where employers in the Roundstone captive, along with their benefit advisors, shared their perspectives after switching to self-funding.
Brian Grupac, Controller with PGTEK, shared his experience of initially being hesitant about self-funded health insurance due to a lack of understanding about how it worked. However, with the data provided by our team, Brian could fully understand the process and realize it was an excellent decision for his company.
I added that Brian's experience is not unique and that many employers think self-funding their health insurance plan is more difficult than it actually is. In fact, self-funding can be easier and more cost-effective in the long run, as it eliminates the need to switch insurance providers every year and deal with annual rate increases.
