Self-Esteem and Excellence - lessons from Baba Steve

Self-Esteem and Excellence - lessons from Baba Steve

Are you facing a lot of challenges? Too many things to do? Too much on your plate? Wishing for another world? Would you like to reinvent your world if given a chance? Well, this article is for you. This article will help you conquer all those barriers, jump over all the hurdles, and emerge as the athletic 10Xer who can emerge! This is basis conversations or rather "babagiri" with many champions who are enduring tough journeys. I hope we could find the sync and as Steve Jobs would say "life would never be the same again".

Society can be judgmental. A hundred people can be condescending, this is a tough world isn't it? But do we remember those wonderful souls who always have good things to say? Or do we tell ourselves that praises are bad? Are praises really bad? Can we pamper ourselves, nourish our soul, develop our self-esteem, and conquer the world? For every negative thought, we may need 3 or 4 positive thoughts, so are we ready to praise ourselves. If there is no one beat your trumpet, you've got to bang your own drums! That's life isn't it, so are you ready with the tunes, the melodies and new rhythms which are waiting at the door?

The world which we see today was built by people who are no smarter than you are, stays Steve baba again. He was abandoned by his birth parents, he was adopted, he was considered an incompetent CEO, he lived on "prasad" in Sri Krishna temples, he returned glass bottles and used the deposit money for survival, he broke up with his first girlfriend, he was thrown out of his own company and gives a roaring comeback, and Apple becomes the world's most valuable company in 2012. Apple had an innovation premium on its share value, as long as Baba Steve was at the helm! So what is your story? Would you have a paragraph like this, which will make people go crazy?

Today is the new page of your life book which you're going to start writing today, says Sirivennela Seetharama Shastry guru. So you've got so many people supplying these positive thoughts, but they become drugs isn't it? Works for a while and life goes back to reset isn't it? Shetty anna keeps saying positive positive, but "positive positive baigan kaise hote ji" Salim Pheku may have said! So shall we try something different? Shall we try Baba Jim Collins for a change, shall we try Peter Drucker for a change? Shall we learn the art of management, for a change? What if I tell you that this is a tried and tested solution?

Looking at human beings, we were like Tarzan, jumping from one tree to the other. We were absolutely jungli, singing "Yahoooo! chahe koi uje jungli, kehta rahe!" We have come till "Mission Mangal" where even guerilla teams with minimal efforts launch rockets! Well SpaceX teams have been doing that in real life. Rocket science is no rocket science anymore with the rise of Baba Elon Musk. With lots of babagiri around, do we realize the power of what it means to be human? Do we remind ourselves of what our ancestors did? Do we remind ourselves of how our ancestors ambition gave us what we have today?

Didn't humans try science, technology, economics, management? Do we try such organized thinking? But then only a small fraction of people managed to use it, they managed to pull the entire human race forward! So we unlock that superpower which has been feeding human kind for generations? Do we push ourselves, learn management, use management to solve our problems? We may have Covid or "uska baap" but with Drucket, Trout, Kotler, we humans know we can use the timeless principles to tackle any adversary! We will know show the sun his path, as said by Sirivennela Seethamashastry again!

So here are the management lesson from Baba Steve Jobs

1- "The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything, to free me for one of the most creative periods of my life"

2- It is awful tasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it! Sometime life hits you on the head, with a brick, don't lose faith.

3- The only thing which got me going was that I loved what I was doing. You've got to find what you love, it is as true for work as it for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, the only way to be satisfied is to love what you do. If you're not found it yet, keep looking, don't settle, and like all matters of heart, you'll know it when you find it, and it will only get better with time.

4- You can't connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in the future. You have got to trust something, gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. Because believing that dots will connect someday will give you the confidence to follow your heart, even if it leads you off the well known road"

5- Death is possibly the single most important invention of life. All external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment, failure will fade away in the face of death, leaving only the important ones. Remembering that you will die someday is the best way to avoid the trap of thinking that you have something to lose.

6- Greatest artists risk failure. Picasso, Dylan, all the great artists risk failure. We have got to risk everything. Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life? Don't be trapped by dogma, which is the product of other people's thinking.

7- Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition, they somehow already want to know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary. Stay hungry, stay foolish.

8- When you grow you are told, that life is the way it is and live your life inside the world try not to bash into the walls too much, life can be much broader once you realize one simple thing. Everything that you call life, was made by people who are no smarter than you are. You can change it, you can influence it you can make things which people can use.

9- Shake off this erroneous notion that life is just there and you've got to just to live it, versus change it, embrace it, make your mark upon it. Once you learn that you're never going to be same again.

10- Here's to the rebels, the misfits, the trouble makers, the ones who see things differently, they have the status quo. You can quote them, glorify them or vilify, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things. While the world sees them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world are the ones who do.

Concluding with the blatantly plagiarized lines of Baba K'naan. Give me freedom, give me fire, give me reason, take me higher. See the babas take the field there, you defy (not define) us, make us feel proud. Babas forever and young, singing songs underneath and together at the end of all this shit, when I get older when I get wiser, I will be stronger, they will call me a Baba, just like a waving flag and then it goes back, and then it goes back, Oooooo"

Babagiri all around, let's be positive, let us make our self-esteem thermometer mercury to hit the ceiling, let us rock the world, let us have the world at our feettttt!!!!!

#alternativeviewpoint Why is the notion of 'life is just there and you've got to just to live it' erroneous?
