#selfcustody is a gift of #crypto , we can take custody of our #money , just as we take custody of our car or our home. This removes liability. Your assets are no ones liability. For this you need a crypto #wallet. While it may be scary, would you rather lose your own money rather than some centralised party stealing, controlling or withholding. Mistakes can be expensive. This was a big lesson from last year.

Plenty how to videos online. Best to do alone as concentration and privacy is suggested. Reach out if you get stuck. There are #hotwallets and #coldwallets. With cold wallets your private keys do no come online.

Make sure you have 10 minutes when you're not going to be interrupted. #metamask is a descent place to start, especially if you have ETH and Binance. #trustwallet or #exodus are also popular for beginners and can store assets from multiple chains. You can find native chain focused wallets like #Yoroi for Cardano which will have additional features like staking.

Download and follow instructions. I suggest downloading the app and a browser extension if available, then you have an additional backup if you lose one and you practise importing an existing wallet before you actually need to, which can be stressful. Metamask is available in several browsers.

Create a new wallet. Write down seed phrase in your black book and don't give or tell anyone. Many get scammed by sharing their seed phrase. Never Share your seed phrase. Go slow, move an insignificant amount of funds to start and get comfortable, there are more secure and complicated ways, you may be comfortable with encrypting files and saving on a hardrive, don't save in the cloud, even if encrypted.

Can buy a #ledger Nano S for as little as ￡25. Sealed is ideal. This is basically a purpose built USB hardrive. Where your private keys are encrypted and never come online. A common misconception is your crypto is taken offline, this is NOT the case, your crypto always remains on the blockchain, it's your private keys which remain online.
