Entrepreneurs often find themselves wearing many different hats and hustling from meetings to presentations to creating an online presence and more! With all the busyness of running a business it’s easy to overlook the most important piece of the puzzle - yourself. If you're not feeling like your best self, you won't show up as your best self for the people that matter most, whether it's your clients or your family and friends. That’s why I’m here to remind you that caring for yourself is crucial to your success and bringing out the boss babe in you!
Here are my top tips for slowing down and embracing self-care like a boss:
Say ‘Yes’?
Self-care can often feel selfish because, as entrepreneurs, we’re used to being everything to everyone. It’s easier to keep hustling because we know there’s always work to be done and slowing down just doesn’t seem right. As stubborn as we might be, sometimes all we need is permission to enjoy life a little. If that’s how you feel, then consider this your permission slip to slow down, take a deep breath, and say ‘Yes’ to yourself every once in a while.
Live in the Now
It’s tempting as a business owner to think ahead to the next thing on your list. But don’t forget that you’re also worth taking care of right now. Bring your awareness to where you are right here at this moment. Who and what are you thankful for today? What’s going on around you? Are you soaking in the silence of an empty room? Are you fully present with your family? Are you focused on relaxation? Be here, now.
Reflect
Now that you’re present for yourself, rather than look at your agenda for the week, reflect on how drastically different your life is right now. Where were you a year ago? Ten years ago? Is there anything that needs improvement? Maybe your public speaking techniques can use some spicing up, in which case my services can definitely come in handy!
A great way to reflect is to keep a journal. If you haven’t started journaling yet, I suggest you try it! Ask any successful entrepreneur and they’ll tell you how important it is to keep up a journaling routine. Doing this not only relieves stress, but it also helps you to reflect on the person you were and are on your way to becoming.

Indulge
While I don’t recommend indulging in anything and everything, I do suggest indulging in something that makes you feel alive. Dive into a new show, get lost in a good book, take a trip with your family, try a new hobby or pick up an old one, and eat the dang cake - at least a slice.?
Reset
To wrap it all up, a good self-care routine allows for a good reset. Unplug from the world (especially from work) for an hour or more and focus on your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Drink lots of water, go for a walk, drive somewhere new, or schedule a spa day. Your body and future-self will absolutely thank you!
Bosses need time to relax, unplug, and reset. Follow my tips above and you’ll be ready to hit the ground running like never before!

3 年Contrary to a frequently held entrepreneurial philosophy, time is NOT money. Time is literally your life. If you are burned out and stressed, there is no way you can be as productive as you'd otherwise be if you were both mentally and physically healthy. The key is not to view self-care as "wasting" time, but rather investing it... in increased productivity.
