???Self-care, revenue and community building

???Link In The Shownotes #7

Hey folks, it's Bernie here.

We hear a lot on the Coworking Values Podcast about some version of 'safe space' being what people are looking for and wanting to provide.

As community builders, we must create a safe space for ourselves, too—community manager burnout is a huge issue.

Even in 2024, I'm shocked at how many people who own a coworking space are surprised that their community managers could get burnt out.

So below, you can join a free online event next week with some of my mates; I spend an hour online with these people every Thursday, and I love them!

Also, below, you can see how your coworking business can grow your recurring monthly revenue with VirtualHQ and how we found the right partner we've been looking for.

Let's get into the show notes!

Upcoming Event: "Do Self-Care: A Panel About the Why and the How"

This session, featuring experts Thor A Rain , Svava Brooks , Nathan Whitbread ACC , Sorrel Pindar , and David Brown ACC, CPCC , will delve into the critical aspects of self-care, which are particularly relevant for community builders and coworking space managers at high risk of burnout.

While this is not an event designed for community managers, it is an epic lineup of people I know and trust to guide me in self-care.

(And getting them all in the same place at the same time is a treat not to be missed!)

Why Attend if I'm a community manager?

I know many community managers who have hit burnout due to the demanding nature of their roles.

Between company interactions and organising events, some sales and marketing roles are often thrown in, with constant attention to the community members.

You have to pay attention to everyone simultaneously and ensure the building keeps going.

Even in 2024, I'm shocked at how many people who own a coworking space are surprised that community managers get burnt out.

Given the lack of autonomy and the high expectations, community managers must prioritise self-care practices and boundaries.

This panel will address:

  • Permission: Understanding the importance of allowing oneself to take breaks and prioritize self-care.
  • Inspiration: Finding motivation and inspiration to integrate self-care into daily routines.
  • Motivation: Staying motivated to maintain consistent self-care practices even during busy times.

The insights from these panellists will help community managers develop practical strategies for managing stress, setting boundaries, and preventing burnout.

  • Date & Time: July 24, 2024, 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM PDT

Virtual Headquarters

Why do you need a virtual office offering?

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the UK saw a remarkable surge in new business registrations, a trend that has continued to hold steady.

London registered an impressive number of new businesses, totalling 120,338, significantly higher than in other UK regions.

This represented over one-third of all new business registrations in the UK during that period. London is experiencing the most significant increase in new business registrations compared to 2019, a surge of 59%?(Business Leader.)

Many entrepreneurs, creators and freelancers have found virtual office addresses particularly attractive - you get a business location without the overhead of physical space.

As a coworking space owner, you can take advantage of this ongoing wave of new businesses, which presents a significant opportunity to cater to a new wave of entrepreneurial needs and make more revenue.

A solid?Virtual Office?set up for any coworking space is an additional, scalable, constant revenue stream.

We've been looking for the right virtual office partner for years - and when I say years, I mean YEARS!!

We needed our virtual office partner to be:

  • ???? Be UK-based.

  • Not be owned by some vast "Death Star" parent corporation.

  • To be following up to date AML/KYC practices.

  • Be in tune with the UK's micro and small business landscape and community.

How we found the right partner

Last year, our long-time mate and collaborator Matthew (Matt) Perkins introduced us to Francesca, the MD of Virtual Headquarters .

We'd found our Virtual Office partner, but it took a few more months for the stage to be set until we found the right place.

By now, you will have heard?Francesca?in the intro to some?Coworking Values Podcast?episodes in the last few weeks.

We're co-creating an ongoing series of episodes about revenue, sales, cost-savings, and building a sustainable 21st-century business.

How does?Virtual HQ?work?

You join the largest independent virtual office network when you join Virtual Headquarters .

Partnering with?Francesca?and her team allows you to boost your existing?virtual office?revenue or establish a new revenue stream.

They currently work in 30 independent coworking spaces throughout the UK and are looking to expand their network in the UK and London in the next year.

Virtual HQ?will also actively promote and refer coworking and meeting room leads to you.

And the best part is that they do not charge broker fees for those meeting room leads.

More about Virtual HQ

  • Their conversion sales rate stands at an impressive 86%.
  • Virtual HQ maintains strong collaborations with 96% of its initial partners.
  • In 2023, Virtual Headquarters drove £2 million for their building partners.
  • They offer a 'hands-off' compliance service.
  • The average recurring monthly revenue for Virtual HQ coworking partners is £1,500.
  • Encourage mail collection to meet and build relationships with your VO clients.
  • Promote your coworking space with no brokerage fees.

One more thing

Remember, the strength of our communities lies in our collective efforts and shared values.

Please rate, follow, share, and leave a review for the?Coworking Values Podcast; it helps our show have an even greater impact.

It also helps people in the general public and your neighbourhood understand coworking, how it can benefit their local community, and how it can benefit them in building their careers, projects, and work.

Thank you for your time and attention

Have a remarkable day.

Be careful out there.?

It is a jungle.

Burnout seems to be rife in the people doing great good in the world. Self-care is one strategy people can use to mitigate that. It’s not the only solution but it is a powerful one that you can take ownership of right now. Thank you Bernie J Mitchell for sharing the session details with your Co-working space community. I love having you in our online community on Thursdays ??

A Coworking hub has many staff, not just the community managers - who often get all the glory and attention, cos they’re the ‘go to/ friendly/ connecting’ person. Burnout is rife in our work culture - and that is an unacceptable cultural issue driven by too many factors.
