Self Care: A gift to give yourself

If I could go back in time and tell my younger self that self-care would be one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself, I would have saved a lot of heartache, sadness and frustration. Then again, I wouldn't have learned all of the lessons that I needed to on this earth plane journey.... A recent list came to me quickly one day during meditation and I share it with you as we go through such uncertain times. As I always say at the end my Twitch show, please remember to put your own oxygen mask and lead with love always. Remember to let the magic unfold as you take care of your inner temple. A few thoughts on what self-care could look like for you and what I would tell my teen self.

*Negative Noise Turn-down: Don't watch or listen to anything that doesn't put you in your highest self. That includes the news. Get the highlights and forget the rest. As a recovering news junkie, 'breaking' news will never stop lately so give it a rest...and let your soul reset. Watch funny puppy videos and allow yourself to laugh and heal.

*Hard Work Reset: Do hard work but only that which serves you and those around you. If you don't love it, then leave it.

*Resting isn't Laziness, it is crucial and don't let that inner critic tell you anything different: If you don't have energy during an hour or a day, take a rest. Read, meditate, nourish yourself with good food, re-energize in the best ways that speak to you personally. Sometimes a nap or a walk is just what you need in that moment.

*Gutter Pull: Just because someone wants to pull you into an argument or a conflict, doesn’t mean you have to take the bait. Respond, don’t react or simply walk away. And that goes for your inner self-critic as well. Acknowledge it, hear it and then let it pass through you… not stick to you….

*You Have A Voice, Use it!: Stand in your strongest power without worry that you will not be accepted. Do not be afraid to speak your truth, especially truth to power. You are allowed to have a voice so speak out!

*What do you truly want?: Say yes to things that raise you up, and no to things that don’t serve you. If guilt steps in, sit and truly listen to your inner GPS. Are you saying yes to something because you feel like you ‘have’ to or out of guilt? Or is it truly something you want to do. If the answer is yes to something you truly want to do, embrace it fully and show up with your best intention.

*Tune Out to Tune In. I’ve said it before but this is a very important tenet to self-care. If the outside noise gets to be too much, go inward and listen to your higher self. You always have the answers you need if you just fine tune your inner radio frequency. Your GPS will guide you to balance, solace, and calm.

Me too it seems that I need it now after the jobs that I’ve had in my lifetime, from being in the Army being overseas in combat zones. Then years later working in the PHILADELPHIA PRISONS DEPARTMENT has left me somewhat shell shocked and always just on edge note in my retirement life. It’s still as if I’m working to some degree by just trying to relax. Help please???
