Self Care During the Holidays

Self Care During the Holidays

Let’s be honest...the holidays can leave us feeling drained and irritated. How many of us return to work needing another vacation just to recover. Large crowds, noise, demands and endless gatherings can cause us to be overwhelmed and tired. Be good to yourself this holiday season. Make time for some self care. Here are a few personal suggestions:

Quiet time - Schedule quiet time during the holidays. Block off some time where you are not hosting or attending anything. Give yourself several days of not doing anything.

Unplug - Turn off your cell phone, computer, iPad, tablet etc. We make ourselves accessible 24/7 to everyone and its ok to unplug.

No Cooking - Order takeout every now and then. Plan an evening (or two) where nobody has to be in the kitchen preparing food or cleaning up.

Read - Curl up and read a book for as long as you want. Find a few good books to read over the holidays and spend an afternoon, evening or an entire day just reading.

Relax - Book a massage, go for a walk, listen to music, complete a puzzle, go skating or sliding (especially if you live in Canada!). Do whatever you find relaxing.

Be good to yourself this holiday season. Let’s start 2020 feeling great and ready to tackle whatever new goals and targets we have ahead!

I'd like to add "get a puppy"! I'm three days in and he has forced me to stay put and puppy-sit.
