What the Idea Is

Self-awareness is one of the most important aspects of sales success.

Why It Is Valuable

Having a conscious awareness of your actions is very important. Know yourself, understand your strengths, determine how to improve your weaknesses, and eliminate blind spots. Not understanding how you are viewed can hinder your success. Not understanding what is around you can also be a hindrance. If you do not know what you want in your life, you cannot determine the path to get there. Self-awareness is understanding your own emotional intelligence, and it leads to better decision-making. It can make you better at your job and a better communicator in the workplace, and it can enhance your self-confidence.

How It Works

Take a look—what do you see in the mirror?

What do you believe about yourself?

Do you believe in your desires?

Do you believe you have the right to success?

What do you deserve?

What is your definition of success? What do you want in life?

  • From your partner?
  • From your customers?

Do you possess self-regulation?

Do you have motivation?

Do you have empathy?

When someone else looks at you, what do they see?

How are you viewed by others?

Do you exercise social skills?

Do you have a positive outlook or a negative outlook?

  • Eighty percent of energy is wasted on negative outlooks/attitudes; it’s easier to be negative than positive, but it is a choice we can consciously make every moment.
  • Do you want to change your self-perception?
  • Then shift your mental attitude:

Shift From:

  • Negative mental attitude
  • Focus attention on yourself
  • Limiting beliefs
  • Risk-averse
  • Blame mentality

To:

  • Positive mental attitude
  • Focus attention on the client/other person
  • Resourceful assumptions/beliefs
  • Bravery/courage to take risks
  • Personal responsibility
