Every thing in life has a unit of measurement, so does emotions.
Emotions have units to measure them;
“Everything We created is in precise measure” Holy Quraan
??? ???? ?????? ?????? "?????? ????? ?????? ??????????? ????????"
So, to answer the question; do we control our emotions, or our emotions control us? And based on the units to measure emotions.?
When we have an emotional state or a mood (those last for seconds to days) and we are not aware of their reasons, the result is that those states or mood will transfer to be traits or a style. We feel sad and surrender to this feeling with no analysis or questions, we feel angry and go with the feeling and just respond accordingly. The result is that we are slaves to our emotions.?
But if each time we feel sad, angry, or even joyful, we take a moment to ask the needed questions such as; why do I feel this way? What happened to cause this feeling I have? Is it something said or done? Why did I react that way? Should I have a better response?
If we do ask and be aware of those questions each time we have an emotional state or a general mood and reflect on our feelings, we will be able to amend what needs amendment and clear what needs clearness. We will be much better with self-awareness and become the masters of our own feelings and responses.?
As Oscar Wilde wrote in his novel "The Picture of Dorian Gray" I don’t want to be at the mercy of my emotions. I want to use them, to enjoy them, and to dominate them.
Do you agree?
