Selective Attention

Have you ever been accused of not listening to someone?? I have.? It’s usually by my wife when I’m watching a golf tournament on television.? I’m so wrapped up in what’s happening on the screen that I don’t hear her voice or even notice her presence.
Maybe you were alone in a room reading.? You were so absorbed in your book that you didn’t notice someone entering the room.? You didn’t hear them even if they were talking to you.? You didn’t see them even though they walked right past you.? It was until they tapped you on your shoulder that you were startled out of your concentration.
Or maybe you were driving your car and so intent on listening to what was on the radio that you lost your awareness to the passengers in the car.? That’s Selective Attention.? Most of the time it occurs unintentionally.? Sometimes it occurs deliberately.
?Selective Attention is a singlemindedness in our attention.? Our conscious mind is completely focused on a single thought, object, or point in space while oblivious to all other internal and external stimuli.? This is also the definition of Playing in The Zone.
?With the proper training, you can learn to turn this social faux pas into a superpower on the golf course, accessing The Zone on demand, regardless of the pressure to excel or difficulty of the situation.? If you would like more information about how to train this superpower, just message me here or at [email protected].
