Most of CRM Software looks similar in features & even some of with great features however, Key of right software decision is long term business approach & Goal.. I have encountered with more than 300 business owners for ERP or CRM selection, Business automation & have seen failure of well branded software very closely but found, most of business owners count only price or current small / short term needs of business regardless of implementation capabilities of software or software sellers.
6 widely used wrong practices / Criteria -Which are big mistakes by Business Owners !!!
1) Low Cost has been first criteria-
This is very often used criteria.. We want to save or earn multi million dollar by using that software however we are not willing to spend even 5℅ of that amount.. Tell me one thing, Who builds week or poor foundation of own building or house ??? I think - None of us ! But unfortunately, Business Owners do proudly in case of building / selecting their business foundation / Backbone as a CRM / ERP. This is really very unfortunate. I always pray to GOD to help them to save their business.
2) Caparison with Free Offerings -
My 20 years of professional experience says "Nothing is free in this world" even Free costs more that paid ones. Business Owners pays heavy cost in terms of business compromises & time spending for nothing.. they just play wrong with their business by doing & experimenting such free things. My suggestion is to avoid any free things in the business at least.
3) Selection with Short Term plan -
More than 90℅ Business Owners do not have any type of planning for implementing & rolling out CRM / ERP / business software which results delay or wrong selection of the same & they have to pay heavy cost for this time & money spent. Do hire a business consultant or business process experts or spare some time with unbiased mindset to sketch long term planning for your business & always do the right selection of Software with Long term goal & calculation of ROI.
4) I know everything about CRM / ERP -
Business Owners do not have much structured knowledge about selection & implementation of any business software. However, They claim, They know all about their long term goal & ERP as well. Most of business owners must have heard only term ERP or CRM & do not know how a particular ERP will function in their business & how they are going to strengthen their business by using that ERP/CRM. How they are going to increase efficiency ? How they are going to prevent process leakages like inventory or information ? How they are going to scale their process? How automation is going to help them ?? etc.. but still they know all & that leads to wrong selection of ERP or they delay their decision due to this illusion. This results huge loss in their business directly or indirectly.
5) Short Term Support -
Business Owners only see / feel upfront cost of having ERP rather not considering of Implementation efforts, recurring cost, training & support cost to run the software by team effectively & decision makers can take out structured MIS for their right business making.
6) High Expectation with Very Low Budget -
Money has been everyone's concern & It's good to spend wisely but it's next to impossible to get high value addition software with very low cost & fully fit with long term vision of your dream business. Most of business owners practice the same & this results they always been in hit & trial mode. Being a Business coach, consultant & CEO of a company, I am worried the way Business owners choose any CRM or ERP with very irresponsible criterion & poor mindset. They lose several rounds of bux to save few bux.

15 Myths before or during selection of software for business -
1) If I will buy CRM / ERP Software, My all business challenges would be solved automatically.
2) This Software will track all sales team & close more business automatically
3) I am boss, I do not need to work / update on software. Team will make entries & bushiness will start growing.
4) This software does not work for me because I pushed my team but they do not work on this. My team is suggesting to buy another one.
5) Hiring ERP / CRM companies / Business consultant is just wasting of money, We will implement on our own. we know more about our business process & plugging of ERP / CRM in the system.
6) This software is the best for my business but There are very cheap / low cost other software are available in the market, Why we should spend much amount of money on this software.
7) We are small company of 10 people, we do not need software, We will use when we will become big one with 50+ or 100+ or more people of team.
8) CRM / ERP companies do not have to spend much but they charge much from us. They have developed their application & only they have to create our account still they charge this much from us.
9) Don't try to make us understand, We have heard & seen many software & we know everything about ERP / CRM. They make this statement & post this, they demand heavy discount with out considering ROI & value addition.
10) Why you are charging AMC? Once software is made, It must keep running. AMC is of no use. you are trying to over charge from us as AMC.
11) This is very small module, This does not have anything special, No training is required, My team is already trained.
12) This ERP / CRM is not good because my team does not like this. we need very compatible ERP software but we do not have much budget.
13) I have seen once an another software with great features but we did not go with that because it was so costly. can you give us same features in our low budget..
14) After having 4/5 rounds of meetings, Let's wait for making our mind, It seems out of our budget & we will start this after few months.. That month never come & such business owners keep loosing much of their business & time. they never become big.
15) We do not need any paid ERP / CRM or automation guidance. One of my friends is an expert, I will take help from him or I will ask about this ERP whether It's useful for me or not.
Business Owners want to solve million dollar business challenges or prevent leakage of million dollar business or inventory or want to build their business backbone etc however, they search very cheap or low cost or short term challenge solver software. What an irony !!!!
