Selection of knee joint prosthesis

Knee osteoarthritis is a common disease among middle-aged and elderly people. The prevalence rate among people over 60 years old is about 30%, and the prevalence rate among people over 70 years old exceeds 40%. Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is an effective method to treat end-stage knee osteoarthritis. It can significantly reduce patients' knee pain and restore knee joint function. However, its efficacy varies in different studies. Posterior cruciate-retaining (CR) prostheses and posterior cruciate substituting (PS) prostheses are the most commonly used prostheses in TKA. There is no consensus on their application in TKA. Studies have shown that the CR prosthesis retains the posterior cruciate ligament, which has little impact on the proprioception of the knee joint, and the biomechanics of the knee joint are closer to the physiological state, thereby improving the function of the quadriceps; the PS prosthesis can be used through the cam device. The range of motion of the knee joint increases.
