Welcome to the May edition of Yugabyte’s SELECT newsletter.?It was a busy month of events, conferences, and activities!?

We were delighted to announce our new partnership with global banking software market leader Temenos. Temenos systems serve 1.2 billion people (one-third of the world’s banked population). They chose YugabyteDB as a strategic database to power the core banking capabilities of their open platform for composable banking.

After closing down our previous office during the pandemic, we were excited to re-open our newly refurbished and expanded Sunnyvale office!?

The local team got together for an evening of great food and team building where Yugabyte Co-founders Karthik Ranganathan and Kannan Muthukkaruppan, and CEO Bill Cook, raised a toast to thank everyone for their patience and hard work.

Firstly, we are thrilled to announce a major product milestone!?

Earlier this month, we crossed two million YugabyteDB clusters created by our users over the company’s lifetime! This is a major achievement in a short timeframe, and a testament to the need for distributed SQL.

That momentum is continuing, with some big news pending about a host of amazing enhancements coming to YugabyteDB, which we will share in the next newsletter.?

But this month we want to recognize the major updates that have been quietly happening to YugabyteDB Managed, our fully-managed DBaaS offering available in AWS and GCP.?

You can read more in the YugabyteDB Monthly Scoop blog, but a number of these updates are now live and should make your life easier and help lower your costs. Key highlights include:

• Give your clusters a nap when needed with new pause and resume capabilities
• Eliminate poorly-timed interruptions by choosing your maintenance windows
• Embrace the Cloud Shell which now offers faster load times and longer sessions

Recent highlights:

• The Temenos Banking Cloud is achieving 100,000 transactions per second and running on a greener and more scalable platform. To reach this milestone has been a three-month project involving multiple vendors and YugabyteDB played a significant role in the project’s success. Yugabyte EMEA Field CTO, David Walker's new blog post ‘How YugabyteDB Scales Temenos’ Cloud Platform to 100K Business Transactions Per Second’ details how YugabyteDB achieved this "staggering result."?
• The YugabyteDB Community is a space where people from different backgrounds, with different skillsets, can get involved in making YugabyteDB better for everyone. We recently hit some major milestones across several community channels, including our Community Slack, Yugabyte University, and our open source software! These achievements are detailed and celebrated in our latest blog, Celebrating Significant Growth Milestones in YugabyteDB’s Community!

We planned to celebrate when we reached 5,000 YugabyteDB Community Slack members. But then we blinked and realized we were already over 5,500!?

We also crossed two million YugabyteDB clusters created by our users over the company’s lifetime (as mentioned in more detail in our product update above).
