How to select a right Split Core Current Transformer?

• Ratio: The transformation ratio is the ratio of the primary current (I1) to the secondary current (I2) Mathematically, it can be expressed as: I1/I2 For choosing the primary current Identify the maximum expected range of currents that the CT will encounter and add 20% more to get the CT primary value. It is important to choose the appropriate CT with the correct turns ratio to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.
• VA Burden: VA burden is very important in current transformers because it represents the maximum amount of power that can be handled by the transformer without causing it to overheat or fail. It is important to select a suitable VA rating in a current transformer.
