Seizing Opportunities in the Ever-Growing Blockchain Industry with IIIT Hyderabad’s Advanced Blockchain Program

Blockchain - Then vs Now

Since its introduction, Blockchain has undergone tremendous transformations and has influenced almost every aspect of the industry. Since the early days of blockchain when Bitcoin was introduced in 2009 and the subsequent development of smart Ethereum contracts, the technology has had a particularly disruptive impact on the finance sector. The rise of decentralized finance (DeFi) and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) showcased the versatility of blockchain, enabling new forms of digital ownership and financial interactions.Though blockchain has shown promise, its decentralized nature of blockchain led Governments to believe that it could be used for nefarious purposes as there is no oversight on money transfers over blockchain. However, the development of this technology has also helped the Government implement rules and regulations around blockchain and also use it for other initiatives across the country.

Once very skeptical, Governments have also warmed up to the idea of Blockchain

As the blockchain environment evolved globally, Governments witnessed the transformative potential that this technology holds. In order to streamline data collection, storage and access of over a billion citizens, the Indian government has taken cues from other governments and has implemented multiple blockchain-powered initiatives. Apart from the revolutionary advancements undertaken in the Indian financial sector, blockchain powered solutions are being explored to address multiple challenges, including improvements in supply chain management through tracking and tracing capabilities, contribution towards creating intellectual property rights and designing solutions for property registration (a blockchain powered project is underway in Hyderabad), maintaining healthcare records, e-voting and document verification.? The high adoption of blockchain in maintaining national repositories has just begun, and a huge, national powered, blockchain based disruption is expected in the coming years.

Need to address the widening supply vs demand gap

Blockchain has been touted as one of the careers of the future, and the demand for blockchain jobs has been skyrocketing. This high growth is expected to continue, as a PwC report shows that 40 million jobs are expected to be enhanced due to the implementation of blockchain technology by 2030.?

These numbers are impressive, but there is a stark lack of blockchain and related professionals in the country. As per Financial Express, currently there are only 5,000 blockchain professionals out of a total 2 million skilled IT professionals in the country.

Pathway to bridge the gap and create blockchain professionals

There is a pressing need for developing talent to address the widening talent gap, which can be addressed through developing training and educational programs. In line with this motive, the International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIITH) , in association with TalentSprint, offers an Advanced Program for Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies . This is a 6-month, executive friendly program with weekend classes and imparts fundamentals of blockchain technology and development to individuals with at least one year of work experience and a willingness to learn coding.

The program is delivered by the IIITH’s Blockchain Centre of Excellence, which was established under Ripple Inc’s University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI). This program offers interactive sessions with IIITH faculty, organizes industry-oriented hackathons on a myriad of topics and offers access to a unique deeptech lab to inculcate blockchain-powered startups. The program has a solid track record of building blockchain competency over the past nine cohorts, and has been rated positively by participants and publication houses alike. In their review, AIM mentioned that it is "A critically-acclaimed program with a spotlight on a practitioner-focused syllabus. You master Blockchain beyond cryptocurrency. "

The participants? have completed the program and joined some of the most eminent organizations deploying blockchain projects worldwide, including Cognizant, Deloitte, Ford Technologies and Goldman Sachs, to name a few. The testimonials left by the participants highlight the exceptional quality of the program, and have left comments such as "Knowledge shared by the professors and industry leaders is exceptional.", "By the end of the program, we were confident to build our own applications." and "Very happy with the technical aspect and lab sessions. Program is more than our expectations."

The reviews by the participants have been given over a course of nine previous cohorts, and the high quality of this program is evident from the multiple cohort participants who have benefitted from the industry aligned, new age curriculum of the program.
