Seize The Moment: Harness Time to Achieve

CEO @ The Champ Group | Leadership Development Creating and Sustaining Inclusive Cultures and appreciating diversity and equity, I help leaders develop people skills so people feel as thought they belong. Let's Talk.
Where does the time go? Do you find yourself asking that question? Yes, it’s true. The clock continues to tick, and the days on the calendar change too quickly. First, it’s Monday, and if you are working on activities that are meaningful to you, the next thing you know, it’s Friday. This time of year, the beginning of the fourth quarter, can be most challenging. We are working feverishly to be sure that we will achieve those goals by the end of the year. Since it’s football season and I love football, I’ll use a football analogy. Are you following your game plan? Or do you need a super long pass and completion to win the game? Are you focused on finishing strong and thinking about and planning what you want to accomplish in the new year to get a head start? When we really look at the calendar, when we consider Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, we don’t really have much time to do actual work. Yikes. It's easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of our daily routines, obligations, and distractions. When you seize each moment and work on your intention, though, you can control your progress. I have a couple questions for you:
1)???? ?? Do you still want what you said you wanted at the beginning of the year? In other words, do you still want to be in the game? If the answer is ‘yes’, I’m sure you are tracking your progress. I always suggest my clients complete a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis every quarter. I’ve used this analysis for years, and while it is a bit time-consuming, I’ve found it helpful for really reflecting and planning. I review it at the end of each quarter month and evaluate how I am doing and what I want to keep, add, or toss.
2)???? ?? Do you have too many priorities that are taking you away from your main thing? We can’t have too many priorities, or they are not priorities; they’re just tasks. Many years ago, a book I read helped me narrow my lists and focus. It is called The One Thing. This encouraged me to be one of the few to write their goals (and I incorporate that practice in my teaching). This book helped me stop tracking to-do lists and start creating a Success list. Here’s a link if you want to check it out. https://www.secondsale.com/p/the-one-thing/4432109?ean13=9781848549258&id_product_attribute=60058249&campaignid=19111465842&adgroupid=&keyword=&device=c&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwr9m3BhDHARIsANut04ZAYgfuqTbaAO44KxR9grzGfq5dL790tecoAim2UFMnk1MXk77FszgaAqvCEALw_wcB
The phrase that caught my attention was "What’s the one thing I can do, that by doing it, everything will be easier or unnecessary." It made me contemplate what I wanted, how to approach it best, and not do too many things. It reduced my overwhelm.
3)???? ?? If the answer is ‘no,’ to number question number one, then it’s critical to assess why you don’t want the goal and determine if you are just frustrated and ready to give up. If that’s the case, rather than give up, ask yourself, what else can I try? Ask others who will speak the truth to you if they have ideas and suggestions that will help.
Are you ready to change teams if you don’t want to be in the game anymore? Who are the new players you need on your team, and what current players do you need to let go? Or are you ready to try something new altogether? What made you change your mind about this goal? Check your mindset. Is it still a growth mindset?
I've realized that there are things I no longer want to pursue and I'm replacing them with new opportunities I do want. Dealing with some health issues has helped me clarify this. I want to focus on other pursuits and use my talents and passions in new ways. I think it's okay to have different experiences in various phases of life. What are your thoughts on this?
I'm in the process of starting a community for women leaders called EmpowerHer Collective. I've observed through coaching and training that while women have made strides in their professions and businesses, we as women sometimes use our power to its full potential, but not always. I aim to create a community for women to build their personal leadership skills and to be able to lead others. I'll be sharing more information about the launch soon. If you're intrigued for yourself or, know someone who might be, please email me. I’d love to chat about it.
So that you can spend your time the way you want, be sure to evaluate your opportunities and put your best foot forward, and harness the time. The clock is ticking. What's new? Three projects:
1) A weekly social media post called Thoughtful Tuesday Tidbits started in September. I've been happy with how Im able to engage with folks. I hope you check them out on social.
2) EmpowerHer Collective is a platform for women leaders to learn, connect, and flourish. I'm currently working on it and am excited to share more soon. Stay tuned for more details, and please start thinking about who you believe would be interested in joining our strong community. ??
3) I created a tool called Reflection & Planner tool because in my opinion, we react too much and reflect too little. When we reflect it helps us plan. It helps us achieve. In fact, it helps us seize the moment. I hope you'll try it. Click here to try it out, and let me know how it helped,or suggestions to improve it. What is new with you? I'd love for you to let me know, as I am certain you are also working toward new ideas and opportunities. Do you know how much I value you and your support?
Let me hear from you. What challenges are you facing in developing yourself and your team? How can I support you? Make today matter.

5 个月Great article Michelle Beauchamp. I love the football analogy. With it being Women"s Small Business Month and Self Promotion Month I have regional interactive LinkedIn Audio Events planned for this month to gather business stories and news. The event for US West region business women is Oct. 30. Details are posted on https://www.dhirubhai.net/events/7246677707206332416/about/?originTrackingId=dXs0PuTKQf6v2f8nuzoKpQ%3D%3D.
