Even moving away from petroleum exploration, seismic will have an important role mapping CCS and geothermal sites, for example. In these applications we will need to map the overburden, seal and reservoir for regulatory compliance and we will need to monitor these sites for many years. There are other monitoring tools but seismic gives the 3D/4D picture we need.
