What will everyone think of me?!?
I don’t want to suck up all the attention…
Being in the spotlight makes me uncomfortable…
I like to keep the details of my life very private…
If you’ve had any of those thoughts lately, I have some bad news for you. With the exception of your close friends and family, maybe a current colleague or two….very occasionally that one you had a summer fling with in Hong Kong back in 1993…
THEY’RE NOT THINKING OF YOU AT ALL???
?
ACCIDENTAL ALGEBRA
Movie producers, theme parks, resort chains, politicians, influencers, advertisers spend millions??? to get attention and even then, it’s an uphill battle. Unless you’re literally front page news and/or you have paparazzi??? following you trying to make you front page news, getting too much attention is kind of like accidentally doing algebra, it’s not a thing.
I can’t remember where I read once that:
BE MORE LIKE A 90-YEAR-OLD???

Be SeenIN THE SPOTLIGHT
One reason it’s easy for us to overestimate how much others are thinking of us is because of the phenomenon psychologists call The Spotlight Effect.
Because we experience everything through ourselves (our eyes, our ears, our feelings, our thoughts, etc.) – it can often seem like the world revolves around us more than it actually does – and therefore, that everyone else is thinking about us.
They’re not.
How could they? Where would they find the time? Because as we’re thinking about ourselves most the time, guess what others are thinking about most of the time. Hint: it’s not us.
And look at you, being all coy, worried about the limelight….

BE SEEN
Want more recognition, raises, promotions, job interviews, dates, contracts, clients, sovereignty, respect, influence, all of it? Relax about getting TOO much attention.
Instead, seize the opportunity to speak up, step into the light, take up space, and unleash your full power to help a world in need. You’re NOT too much. We need more of you!
I'll be looking for YOU in the headlines, Eric
