Seeking Senior Leader/C-Suite Candidates for Coaching & Mentoring

So, let's see how good the LinkedIn network really is again. As my connections and followers know, I qualified at the University of the West of England (UWE) as an Institute of Leadership & Management Level 7 Executive Coach & Mentor. I met some amazing people at UWE and the work is a fantastic complement to my current executive and non-executive roles. I am extending my studies now by undertaking a Masters MSc Degree in Coaching & Mentoring at Newcastle University.

Hence, I am now seeking Senior Leaders and C-Suite candidates to work with me during this qualification process. This should be a real benefit to Coachees and their organisations, and will be particularly helpful to those Coachees who have real strategic input to the direction of their company, business or organisation. They may even have some potential real time issues that provide an element of conflict of interest in discussing internally. Coachees could work in either the private or public sector, and need not be engaged in Finance (my specialism) at all, the key criteria being that Coachees would enter the engagement with an open mind and with a desire to be involved in improving not just their own working methods, but those of colleagues as well. Believe me, I am already a convert and have seen the benefits right through my own organisations. And for newcomers to the skill, it is simply not about "this is how I would do it"! It is all focused upon the Coachee becoming better in their role, and gaining benefit from an 'outside' observer.

By way of background, I have been a CFO at Main Board level for over 20 years. I have had long-term engagements in PLC (x2), Venture Capital (x2), Private Equity-backed organisations and in the Regulated Housing sector, in addition to my current roles as a Partner at gunnercooke LLP (one of the fastest growing legal and professional services firms in the UK) and four Non-Executive Director positions. I have led a full IPO as a CFO on the London Stock Exchange (with an MBO company), and executed multiple M & A transactions (including exits, disposals, and JVs) across UK, pan-European, North American and Asia territories. Funding Programmes, Treasury Refinancings, and Equity Fund Raisings have been a mainstay of my responsibilities during this time.

Sounds like an active ride so far, but of course I have acquired PLENTY of scar tissue along the way, and those experiences have been the most useful as always.

So, what I am seeking to do, is work with a couple of motivated Coachees from any Senior Leader discipline (not just Finance) and engage in Coaching and/or Mentoring with those Coachees, and perhaps throughout their organisations as well. This would be at the convenience of the Coachee, and would probably be structured around 6-8 discussions over 12 months. Geography need not be a problem. I am in the North of England if that helps, but the pandemic has shown us all that virtual Coaching & Mentoring is just as beneficial. All my Coaching and Mentoring would be exclusively confidential to the Coachee, and structured around a 'contract of engagement' agreed right up front between the Coachee and I. Similarly, I engage in being supervised (remotely, not in the sessions) myself on a totally confidential basis, so my work is regulated as well. And if it does not work out for any reason, closure would be on a ‘no fault basis’ either side.
