Seeking Passion In The Work Place?

Seeking Passion In The Work Place?

Are you ready for more passionate purpose?

This is the second month that my sales division and I draw a topic out of a bowl and work towards mastering a new skill. Not just any skill; a leadership skill.

June was all about conscientiousness. July is about PASSION on our team. In reading a quote from Simon Sinek this morning it was such a great reminder that we as professionals in the workplace should not judge our job on one good day or one bad day. It really doesn't matter where you work or what you do if you are not passionate about what it is that YOU are bringing to the table.

These last couple weeks as hard as it is to release control for me; I am learning you cannot force passion or purpose. I also cannot force selflessness. (eek! That is so hard to be okay with) As a leader, I can only support and encourage.

I work full time++ for a commercial janitorial company. This on the surface level would seem that it could be a less than "pretty" job. However, WHY I am so passionate about what I do is because every single day I am able to work with a team of people that give me purpose to wake up every single day. There is a reason I build relationships, there is a reason I look for the right clients and partnerships, there is a purpose to not quit. I am a part of a team. Without each of us bringing a piece of the passion forward we would be letting people down.

When one person goes into a valley, it trickles and causes others to go in a valley. Just like when someone is at their peak, others tend to follow pattern. It is like a contagious bug!

Daily, I am able to speak on behalf of our people and as an advocate of our WHY. I am able to be a contributor on a big scale. Not because of my title, and not because I carry a wide open checkbook. It is simply because I can make small dedicated and intentional completed tasks that help the overall bigger picture.... for the people! No one in our company is more or less important than the other. You see--- the passion we each bring forth is so unique and special it leaves an impact that trickles into a legacy.

We aren't in it for popularity or for selfish reasons, rather so that we can wake up every single day knowing we are truly the game changers and shift makers of the janitorial world! That's pretty spectacular.

I challenge you to stop sitting on the side line, and instead in THE WORK SPACE you are in, look for the nuggets of gratitude.

  • What are you really excellent at?
  • What makes you as unique as a snowflake?

Now ask yourself and write down:

How you can apply this in your work home to make an impact that will turn into a legacy.

Do not tie it to more income, more fame, more self. Tie it to leadership seeds. What can you do for the betterment of the company and team you work with. What can you do to make others around you be inspired?

Let's lead this week with PASSION shall we!
