Seeking a more accessible alternative to Word Press
The Blind Blogger Maxwell Ivey
???? Everyone's blind about something, I just have the white cane. Accessibility Benefits Everyone!
Hello, I'm a blind creative entrepreneur who not only manages his own website but helps two other people with disabilities manage theirs.
Since the introduction of Gutenberg in 2018 and now the WP full site editor, I am finding it to be less enjoyable to use.
I'm beginning a journey to discover an alternative that will be both accessible and easier to use.
I am also seeking something that will still give me the flexibility to include things like blog posts, blog comments, unique pages, links, and media players.
I have two questions for now.
One, what CMS, content management systems, or site building options should I put on my list to test?
And two, how do I best evaluate them to determine which is the most accessible and easiest to use with a screen reader.
I am a Mac user primarily, so I'm not really interested in any Windows based options.
I have been very frustrated over the last year or so with my inability to properly maintain or update my sites.
Plus I think this exercise could be a great beginning topic for my new website and podcast titled The Accessibility Advantage.
Please reply with any comments or suggestions you think might help me find something better than the current version of Word Press.
Thanks, Max
