Sometimes, the dragon and the treasure are the same.
Every worthwhile opportunity carries some degree of risk. Whether it's asking for a raise, starting a business, or moving abroad - there is always a "dragon", the chance it could go poorly. But with the risk comes the potential for a change. For growth. The "treasure".
Sometimes, we have to bravely face the dragon to seize the treasure, whether it's career growth, new experiences, or bringing an innovative product to market.
Sometimes the risk and reward are two sides of the same coin. For example, sharing your writing with the world risks criticism but unlocks the treasure of connecting with people. Leaving a stable job to follow a passion could lead to failure or fulfillment.
The bigger the potential reward, the scarier the dragon often is. We need courage to battle our fears and insecurities.
Slaying the dragon takes strategic thinking, planning and faith in oneself. Just like the heroes in myths who use their wits - not just brute force.
There are times when we have to cut our losses if the dragon seems too hazardous. But many times - the treasure is worth fighting past our doubts.
