Seeing the World Through a Sea Shell
“To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower?
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand?
And Eternity in an hour”
-William Blake
This is what I see and feel when I look at these sea shells - remnants of homes once inhabited by creatures both mighty and weak. Whenever I go to a beach, I vehemently collect them. They remind me of my own home and the people I care deeply about. For, a home is not just a place or structure, it's also an abstract feeling that's imbued into our lives. Just imagine - thousands of miles out there in the wilderness of the vast ocean, these seemingly frail coverings once housed souls much like our own, sheltering them from the harshness of the outside world. In one way or the other, the very imprint of those lives is infused into each and every atom, forever marked by the eternal hands of time. They are in a way relics of the distant past and reminders of a future not far away.
Sometimes, when life bogs me down, I feel like a stranger in a strange land but when I witness such a magnificent radiance of optimism — that even a graceful sea shell can make a difference — I'm reminded of a world where anything is possible. I'm reminded of a world where we can reimagine what it’s like to be alive, and more importantly, feel alive.
The possibilities are endless. So, let's step into the light and be reborn.
Wishing you all a luminous day!
