Seeing the City and the Savior
The West Broad Church of Christ exists to connect persons to Jesus, one another and our community. The mission of our church?is specific; it is focused. And it is vital. Moreover, that mission is centered in an area that is growing, bustling and as our Lord remarked,?“...ripe for harvest”?(Jn. 4:35).
Specifically, the number of residents in downtown Richmond increased by 45% between 2010 and 2021. According to data, the most significant change includes Richmond’s famous historic Black neighborhood,?Jackson Ward. That area’s Black population grew from just under 23% in 2012 to 48% in 2021.
Folks are moving to downtown Richmond because being directly connected to the city appeals to them. Shopping, entertainment, amenities, housing — all these are attracting thousands of people into our area. And that growth is expected to continue in the coming years. The city’s?Richmond 300?growth plan (expected activity through 2037) has designated five of its 10 “priority growth nodes:"??“downtown core,"?Jackson Ward,?Monroe Ward, Shockoe and Manchester. And the West Broad Church of Christ is?smack-dab in the middle of all this progress!?
We see?the city. Our job as members of the West Broad Church of Christ is to help the city see?the Savior. We ask each person in our church:
We ask these questions because we know that thousands of people are coming to downtown Richmond; they are making our area their home.?As such, we want to do all we can to be sure they meet Jesus when they get here!
Would you like to join us in this grand endeavor??Then?feel free to?contact us here.?And if your schedule allows (and we hope it does!),?come?worship with us?at 813 West Broad Street this?Sunday morning at 10:30 (Bible classes for all ages at 9:30).
Onsite or?online,?you will always experience a warm welcome and encouraging, relevant?word from the Lord?at the West Broad Church of Christ.?We certainly hope to see you soon!
