See you in Seattle!

See you in Seattle!

The National Scleroderma Conference is just 3 weeks away! As we make our final preparations for Seattle, I wanted to share a few of my favorite things to see and do in the area.

I’ve been travelling to the Pacific Northwest for more than a decade, and the thing I probably love most is the landscape. There’s water everywhere, and the scope of the flora and fauna is mind-blowing (at least it is for this lifelong southerner).

Conference kicks off at 4:00 pm PT on Friday, July 19 and runs 1:00 pm PT on Sunday, July 21 with pickleball at 2:30 pm!). That leaves plenty of time to explore Bellevue and the surrounding areas while you’re in town!

And if you haven’t registered yet, don’t worry! You can still secure your spot at scleroderma.org/conference.

Here are a few of my favorite things to see and do (and eat) in the area:

  • Enjoy the outdoors! Paddleboard Lake Sammamish at Sunset Beach ?
  • Visit Chihuly Garden & Glass (with great views of the Space Needle)
  • Shop the Public Market for beautiful fresh cut flowers, great views of the harbor, and don’t miss the delicious yogurt @ Ellenos Yogurt.
  • Enjoy the amazing food and drinks. A few of my favorite stops include The Walrus and the Carpenter, Queen Anne Beer Hall and How to Cook a Wolf. The coffee culture in Seattle is pretty major, so be sure to check out Cafe Vita or Fulcrum for a wake up call.
  • Take a cruise to Bainbridge Island. Take a scenic ferry ride from downtown Seattle to Bainbridge Island for stunning views of the city skyline and the opportunity to explore the charming island.
  • Hike Mount Rainier. While not in Seattle proper, Mount Rainier National Park is a short drive away and offers hiking trails through old-growth forests, wildflower meadows, and up to the top of the mountain itself.
  • Visit the beautiful state capitol building in Olympia, about an hour’s drive south.

We are so grateful to our host property, the Hyatt Regency Bellevue on Seattle's eastside, and secured a great room rate (use the code G-SF24) for $225/night.

And our friends at Visit Bellevue have even MORE recommendations for our National Scleroderma Conference attendees which you can learn all about right here!
