The SEE principle

One old age thing, that I learnt a couple of years back and really does work! Following this principle increases the success of you making friends and business!

The SEE principle I found out during my door knocking days, lets face it nobody wants to answer the door on a Saturday morning to a random guy wearing a colourful bib with a grin ear to ear as he is about to talk to you about whichever cause or business he is supporting! But people make their first impression of you within 7 seconds of meeting you so you have to do a lot to convince them you are brilliant!

So that's why we followed the SEE principle, a simple, but effective, three step guide which can be applied to interviews and everyday life :

Step 1: Smile

Smiling releases endorphins, and endorphins make you happy. Also you’ll look a lot more friendly and approachable if you’re smiling, so even if you’re nervous inside, outside you’ll look like a perfect fit for the team you’re interviewing for!

Smiling is also contagious! We tend to mimic the smiles or frowns of others because it helps us better understand what other people are feeling, allowing us to respond appropriately. But we do all this subconsciously - The good side to all this is that it will make your interviewer smile as well which releases endorphins for them!

Step 2: Eye Contact

This one can seem scary to do! Staring someone in the eye can be awkward but if you are already smiling it just looks like you are really friendly. It's been proven that smiling also increases trust between the two people - this is because you feel you really get to see whether they are lying to you or trying to deceive you! People believe that looking into someones eyes you see their soul its why you get expressions like:

"see eye-to-eye" when two people have to agreed on one thing or "pull the wool over your eyes" when someone is trying to trick you! so when you are in an interview make sure to keep eye contact to make sure you build that trust between future employer and employee!

Stage 3: Enthusiasm

Obviously Enthusiasm! You can't go into the role in a grumpy mood as that will show and if you think the people employing you will often have to sit next to you for 8-9 hours a day and don't want some miserable person to spend that time with! They want someone to add energy and vibrancy to the office NOT take it away!

Always go into anything you do with high spirits - as if you go into an event with a negative attitude you will have a negative time - you go into an event with a positive attitude you are more likely to have fun!

So that's the SEE principle I have followed for the last few years and I have to say it hasn't let me down yet!
