To See How The Leader Is Doing, Look At The People – John C. Maxwell
Most of my friends and colleagues know that one of my passions in business is leadership training and development. I have coached and taught leadership principles for the past 15+ years.
This week, I have been refreshing my leadership skills by re-reading several leadership books. One is from my friend and mentor, John C. Maxwell. His book, Leadership Gold is packed full of 26 leadership lessons that will help anyone become a better leader?
Today, this one really hit me – Lesson #9: To See How The Leader Is Doing, Look At The People. In this chapter, he references 4 questions from Max Dupree that you can ask to see how you are doing. Here they are:
1.????Are The People Following? If no one is following, there is no leader.
2.???Are The People Changing? Are people making changes for the sake of progress/improvement?
3.???Are The People Growing? Do you have a commitment to help your people grow?
4.???Are The People Succeeding? If the people are succeeding/winning, you are leading.
The one question John asks leaders is this: “Are you making things better for your people?”
How about you? Are you making things better for your team?
