Sedbergh enjoys GCSE results success

Following on from the success of last week’s A-level results, Sedbergh is once again celebrating as we congratulate all those who received their GCSE results today.

This year, 98.4% of pupils received passes with grades between 4 – 9 (A* - C) which is an increase of over 6% against last year. The improvement on last year’s results continues, as this year pupils achieved a total of 456 grades 9 – 7 (A* - A), an astonishing 48.5% which is an increase of over 8% on last year.

Sedbergh School Headmaster, Mr Dan Harrison, has shared his praised to this year’s cohort saying;

In this most unusual of years, I am delighted with the success our Year 11 pupils have achieved. They have done this through a lot of hard work and they should feel proud of all of their efforts.”

Samuel Sancar (Winder House) was this year’s top performer, with a phenomenal set of results which saw him receive 10 Grade 9’s (10 A*). Jessica Knibbs (Carus House) also achieved some brilliant results, receiving 9 Grade 9’s (9 A*) and 2 Grade 8’s (2 A’s).

Local pupils also enjoyed some fantastic results today too. Lucie (Robertson House), from Lancaster, achieved 6 Grade 9’s (6 A*) and 5 Grade 8’s (5 A’s), Martha (Carus House), from Sedbergh, received results of 2 Grade 9’s (2 A*), 6 Grade 8’s (6 A’s) and 2 Grade 7’s (2 A’s) and James (Hart House), from Kendal, received 10 GCSE’s with 7 of them being Grade 9 (7 A*).

As a result of this year’s improved GCSE results, we are delighted to share that our Value Added score has too increase, now sitting at +0.78.

We are very proud of all of these record breaking results especially our highest ever value added score.” Said Mr Harrison.
