Sedalia's Oyster & Seafood for Garden & Gun
I recently traveled to Oklahoma City for a story featuring Sedalia's Oyster and Seafood restaurant for Garden & Gun magazine. Bon Appetit listed it as one of the nations best new restaurants in 2023 and I was excited to see what the buzz was all about. Zak Walters and his wife/co restaurateur Silvana own and operate the small non assuming space where you can sit at the counter and watch your food being prepared or else relax in the outdoor yard with a cocktail. As someone who's lived on both coasts (with relatives that live in AK that have sent me fresh seafood since I was a kid), I'm a bit picky about my seafood. When it comes to my opinions on oysters, ceviches and the like....I guess I just know what I like. Well, Sedalia's exceeded my expectations. The freshness, high quality ingredients and a creative approach to dishes made it an experience that I won't forget. You have to be brave to open a restaurant like this in the midwest...but it looks like the gamble is paying off for these two. I highly recommend!
