Yes I know, security must be on the forefront of anything we do but it is so cumbersome...
I thought I was more or less secure behind a Mac but, yesterday, I learned that Zoom had a security problem, a member of the Global Business Owners club was attacked by a hacker and his Revolut account robed. He could not prove that it was a matter of Zoom′s security failure but, a day before, we had all been using this software for a conference call of some 59 members worldwide.
So I bought an antivirus and installed it in my Mac.
Will it work? for the time being, it seems to be doing its job but my problem was of a different nature. My iPhone decided to stop because I had marked 3 times or more the wrong password.
Now this is logical but, why did it happen? Using the advice of Apple I have several passwords for the Mac, Apple Cloud, the iPhone, the Tablet. All of them are link to Apple and therefore it should be easy to detect that I am indeed the owner, I am at home and that it is very probably me. Well, it took me an hour to circulate the Apple site, the iPhone and the Mac before I could have all that working again. For more security, Apple had cancelled my Credit Cards and I needed to reinstall them again. Another half hour.
Now Microsoft is also there. I have Office 365 online and, now that I have an antivirus I find out, that it connects to an external site, I guess their own clout, from time to time. The antivirus software keeps telling me that someone wants to connect to the Internet and I am not using Office...I am tempted to tell not to allow it but then again, it says that it is Microsoft Corporation′s site. I dare not defy them. The next Excel Business Plan may be affected...:-)
One of the keys of the business models of the XXIst Century is the ability to allow the customer to work for us for free. The large American corporations are very good at it. I guess I could by now, purchase a very good car with the amount of hours I have dedicated to Microsoft first, and then to Google, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and even Tik Tok.
We should learn form them. Selfservice is the key of the business models of this Century, allow your customers to do 95% of your work for free. Those are the real margins...
