Security Strategy & Business Continuity Plan to keep Cyberattacks at bay

Greetings!

I trust that you and your families are keeping safe.

Due to evolving threat landscape and recent increase in number of cyberattacks, I want to share how organisations are leveraging VMware Solutions to have “Security Strategy & Business Continuity Plan to keep Cyberattacks at bay”.

First and foremost, you should have the tools and technology that can detect & prevent. If not, you should have tools that can reduce the attack surface. Lastly, in case of an attack you should be able to respond and restore the operations as quickly as possible.

  1. Detect/ Prevent Cyberattacks:
  • Get ransomware protection with next-generation antivirus and behavioral EDR capabilities of VMware CarbonBlack Cloud. This can be deployed across VMs on-premises, Physical Servers, Virtual Desktops, Endpoint devices, Cloud instances and Containers. It is also tightly integrated with VMware products such as vSphere, WorkspaceONE and Horizon. More about VMware Carbon Black can be found at Use Cases | VMware Carbon Black

  • VMware Carbon Black Cloud Workload delivers agentless protection for vSphere workloads that is easy to operationalize, while reducing the attack surface and strengthening datacenter security posture.
  • VMware Workspace Security VDI delivers Highly secure desktop and app virtualization solution with integrated Malware prevention.
  • VMware Workspace Security analyzes millions of systems, behaviors and real-time threat signals to enforce compliance, secure applications and information, and block malware and attack vectors to ensure a secure digital workspace.
  • NSX Security - Advanced Threat Prevention (ATP) includes a comprehensive set of threat detection and prevention capabilities, including IDS/IPS. Leverage the unique distributed architecture and precise application context of NSX Distributed IDS/IPS to replace discrete appliances. Know more at NSX Advanced Threat Prevention | VMware

3. Restore Operations from another Site:

  • If you wish to build a new DR Site or if you already have another site --> vSphere Replication: By enabling retention of multiple point-in-time snapshots and by tracking RPO violations, you can recover a clean copy of VM post an attack. Finer details can be found at vSphere Replication Technical Overview | VMware

  • If you wish to use Cloud for Disaster Recovery --> VMware Cloud Disaster Recovery can be used to replicate storage from a Protected Site to Scale-out File System. In case of cyberattack, you can recover a good known copy of VM and run it on VMware Cloud. After DC is back to normal, you can move workloads back to DC. Read more from DRaaS and Ransomware | How VMware Cloud DR Helps

I hope this helps you to strategize and work on Business Continuity Plans for your organization.

Thanks for your time. Take care. Stay safe. :)
