Security, Moscow's way into Africa

For several years now, our teams have been reporting on the activities of Russia's private military contractor Wagner reputedly close to Vladimir Putin, and more widely on Moscow's growing influence in Africa.

Other than Wagner, whose mercenaries have intervened in Libya and Mozambique and are now offering their services in West and Central Africa, Russia's security breakthrough in the continent is also backed by the Kremlin's defence ministry. It serves Moscow's geopolitical interests and paves the way for Russia to move into other fields on the continent.
