Security Managers ask themselves ''what type of investigator do I need?''
There is a big difference between crime investigators, security investigators and the Master Investigator (security and criminology investigator)
One would summon for an investigator after an incident is reported or has occurred. Therefore, they know something is amiss or they need to know the truth of the matter.
The biggest nightmare is not knowing what is truly happening on the ground. Where did it happen, when did it begin, is it still going on, how is involved and why are they involved? Could it be happening in the financial department, HR, logistics, sales, or even the security department?
There is crime that is known and the unknown crime that may be about to deliver major reputation damage, life impacting or unimaginable collateral damage. The speed of technological development or socially motivated causes dictate the simple fact that one could never be intellectually arrogant that they are in-control of the situation.
In each and every department, there may be the conventional methods of crime but there would also be unique crime related to specific products or services related to distinct departments. These could also have copied and evolved into other sectors or departments.
Hybrid experts are required to provide hybrid solutions
Is the company services or products being used to transport organs, human trafficking, weapons, drugs, or anything in-concert with transnational, locally organized crime or street gangs? Are there people involved in HR that have placed a specific person in Logistics that is facilitating the crime? Perhaps, the security at the gate is aware that products or people are being offloaded before entering the premises or when the trucks have left the venue? More than one person could be involved in the story, therefore, the case can draw attention from enlightened people in different departments.
What to look for? Perhaps The 7 deadly sins
Vanity, Envy, Gluttony, Lust, Anger, Greed and Sloth
Are any of the staff working as a lone wolf predator or are they working voluntarily or under duress because they have been captured because of their addictions or desires?
Do they know the pitfalls?
When using the tools of the trade today, do they know the pitfalls and what to look for?
Can they comprehend and identify the evolving structure, pattern and formation of the octopus, that is about to strangle the life blood out of their livable space by looking at the analytics?
