Secure tickets for the Cii Summit

Our Summit program is designed to unlock the power of Ireland's leading charities, demonstrating their crucial role in fostering a fair, equal, and inclusive society. As we approach an election year, our sector must have a seat at the table, partnering in shaping the economic and social dialogue for our country's future. See the full line-up of speakers here.

Our keynote speaker, Dr Margaret (Windham) Heffernan, renowned for her 2019 TED Talk "The Human Skills We Need in an Unpredictable World," which has garnered over 4 million views, will set the stage for a day of insightful discussions.

Charities matter for political stability, fostering social cohesion during deep division and fiscal inequality. With wealth consolidating into fewer hands, our economic equality depends on a thriving and valued not-for-profit sector to ensure everyone can access services and resources. Our value and contribution cannot be overlooked, with one in eight people employed in the sector. The government must recognise and support the indispensable role of charities as an investment in our nation's strength and resilience.

Join us at the Summit as we delve into these critical discussions, showcase charities' profound impact, and advocate for their rightful place in shaping a brighter future for Ireland. Your participation in the "Catalysts for Change: Influencing the Political Agenda" panel, hosted by Newstalk's Shane Coleman, is crucial as we explore these themes and work together to shape a more resilient and inclusive future. Your input is essential as we navigate these challenges and identify opportunities for transformative change.

As the representative body for Ireland’s leading and professional charities, Cii will host a screening of a new film ‘Uncharitable’. The film challenges some long-standing preconceptions about how the sector should be resourced.????

Directed by Stephen Gyllenhall and featuring actor Ed Norton, the film provides us with the opportunity to look at this topic anew.? Dan Pallotta, whose lifetime commitment to championing the charity sector the documentary is based on, has spearheaded a long-running campaign in the US to change perceptions about indirect/overhead costs.??

There is considerable benefit for everyone who uses or funds the services that charities operate effectively, efficiently and in compliance with all company, financial and regulatory laws. Investing in solid operating structures and systems is vital to the success of a charity’s efforts. Unfortunately, misunderstandings about how charities work, and ill-informed criticism about overhead costs has led to a situation where many charities are under-investing in key areas, causing the cycle of underfunding to continue. We believe it is crucial now to come together and consider how we change this status quo.??

Following the screening, there will a panel discussion and we will be joined by Dermot Kavangh, CEO of Cork Simon and Board member of Cii, Angela Devaney, Assurance Director at PWC, Dee Butler, Head of Growth at Submit.com, Ricky Kelly, Partner (Cybersecurity, Privacy and Data Protection, RDJ LLP?and áine Myler, CEO of Cii?to share their insights and perspective on this important topic.??

We hope that you can join us for what promises to be an insightful and thought-provoking discussion on changing the narrative for the Irish charity sector.?
