Secure, On-demand Identity
Traditional enterprise security and compliance architectures are being disrupted by emerging user-centric architectures that support the shift to cloud. More and more sales, IT and Business functions are moving to the cloud. Enterprises want to manage access to these SaaS applications as an extension to their on-premise applications. As data moves from on-premise to cloud and more corporate data is exposed via multiple channels, there is a critical requirement of strong authentication for user’s access, channel security to ensure data is secure in transit and authorization controls to ensure only authorized users access the data.
Enterprises continue to rapidly move application workloads to the cloud, as shown in a recent Forbes survey that indicates business-critical workloads in the cloud are set to double in the next 24 months. While IT scrambles to meet this acceleration, the importance of identity and access management is emphasized by the 2016 Cloud Security Spotlight Report, which found that unauthorized access to sensitive data, through misuse of credentials and poor access control policies, is the single biggest threat to application security in the cloud.
The market needs a next-generation hybrid Identity and Access Management solution that can serve traditional workloads on-premises as well as modern workloads in the cloud; and it needs it now. To quote William Gibson, the future is already here.
Oracle Identity Cloud Service (IDCS) provides a number of core services, each of which solves a unique challenge faced by many enterprises. IDCS is a cloud-native service designed to be an integral part of the modern enterprise security fabric, protecting users and applications wherever they may be.
Unlike first generation Identity-as-a-Service products, IDCS is part of a strategic hybrid solution—giving organizations centralized workflows for access and governance across on-premises and cloud applications. IDCS is global and scalable, which by virtue of being hosted on the Oracle Cloud, inherits strong security at the logical, physical and data security levels. And it was built to be completely open with a standards-first and API-first philosophy to ensure interoperability and compatibility.
Peter Barker, SVP of Identity Management and Security says IDCS represents one of many major investments being made by Oracle to provide security services that enable customers to safely adopt cloud solutions with Oracle and 3rd parties. We are very excited to launch IDCS at this key juncture. IDCS is currently wrapping up its beta program and preparing for general availability in the near term.
