Secure & livable City
During past days I had the opportunity to share experiences with colleagues about technology in one of the most relevant technology infrastructure conferences: the Bicsi Fall conference; the most mentioned: secure and livable cities. Why those ones between others?
A city with the ability to be livable, is one safe and secure, with affordable and proper housing, then, with key transportation options for the commute from point A to point B; then, offers supportive city services, as well as the experience for residents, to be socially included and connected. Once in place, constituents work and develop environmental sustainability enhancing personal independence and community’s correlation.
A common aspect between those two aspects is infrastructure with an additional ingredient: Digital. Then, Digital infrastructure is moving to be the most powerful tool cities can get in creating a place where people want to live as well as increase a solid connection with businesses come to grow.
Digital infrastructure implies data and its usage; just referring to livable cities, using data to make this happen could be the use of data produced by air quality and mobility sensors; then, people with respiratory issues can share more information with health care institutions to receive personalized health and wellness care. Some cities are facing ongoing safety issues, such as the rapid development of fog conditions, then cities are driving secure, ruggedized networking capabilities to keep roadways safer.
And when it comes to creating sustainable cities, there’s really no greater task than work to build smarter communities for people to enjoy and live in a favorable environment.
With connectivity, that needs to be secure, each city can deliver effective public services, share meaningful interactions with residents, keep people safer and data protected, then, create unique opportunities for revenue generation for companies interested to make contributions for the future of all of us living in one commonplace.
Connectivity provides the digital backbone for cities and communities to thrive; fiber networks, maximize digital value, beginning with enabling IT readiness and operational effectiveness; then, ensuring that city network infrastructure can handle the added traffic in such a way that their resident's experience is consistent and reliable.
For us working in technology fields, We must be committed than ever to securely connecting everything to make cities livable and safer for future generations.
