London Sport launches new ‘Let’s Move London’ strategy
London Sport is marking a decade of impactful work by launching its new ‘Let’s Move London’ strategy, setting out a three-year plan for reaching Londoners – particularly those from the most deprived communities – and helping them to live longer, healthier and happier lives through physical activity.
The ‘Let’s Move London’ strategy identifies three areas of focus where London Sport can make the biggest impact:
Active environments – Unlocking non-traditional spaces such as unused car parks, empty shop units and libraries to engage more Londoners in sport, especially those that are the least active.
Health – Integrating physical activity into London’s healthcare system to prevent and support the management of health conditions.
Community sport – Supporting grassroots sports to access facilities and the workforce they need to do more with underserved communities.
Exciting Summer of Sport Inspires Parliamentary Focus on Physical Activity
London Sport joined the Active Partnerships Network and the National Sector Partner Group (NSPG) at an event in Parliament last month, hosting over 40 MPs and 100 sports and recreation representatives. The event aimed to showcase the sector’s contributions to the UK’s mission for a healthier, happier, and more prosperous nation. Read more.
London Sport Visits OSF School with Miatta Fahnbulleh MP
Last month, London Sport visited Harris Academy in Peckham with local MP Miatta Fahnbulleh, to discuss how the school has benefitted from the Opening Schools Facilities (OSF) Fund. With the funding, futsal clubs are run for boys and girls through the local community, whilst also training staff to be able to run sessions. The visit was a great opportunity to demonstrate the importance of continued OSF investment under the new Government. Read more here.

London Sport is thrilled to announce the extension of our partnership with Sid Lee London. Building on a shared commitment to helping inactive Londoners in deprived communities become active, we will continue to unveil a series of creative initiatives including fresh and impactful visual concepts for our events.

Funding for small charities to tackle health inequalities
The GSK Community Health programme, in partnership with the King's Fund, will support aspirational leaders who want to develop their organisations to tackle health inequalities. Up to 15 charities will receive up to £10,000, plus access to training and development valued at £3,500. For more information, click here.

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, in partnership with Natural England and the NHS, has released a new evaluation report on a project investigating the role of green social prescribing in 'Preventing and Tackling Mental Ill Health'. Impairment Report highlights specific barriers to sport and activity
A new report from Activity Alliance sheds light on barriers faced by disabled people in sport & physical activity. Insights from over 970 participants highlight barriers like cost of living, transport, and representation. Read the full report here.

The Paralympic Games are an incredible display of sporting achievement, but most don’t want to aim for a gold medal, they simply want to enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle. Asian and black women in London want to get more active outdoors
The majority (70%) of Asian women in London want to be more active outdoors, and eight in ten (82%) of Black women in London want to be more active outdoors. Muslimah Sports Association, helping Muslim women in London, to get active outdoors is being celebrated through the Let’s Get Out There initiative. Read more.

Deliver meaningful PE for all young people with IPE
A newly updated Inclusive PE (IPE) training course, released on the Activity Alliance Learning Hub, will empower teachers and Teaching Assistants to deliver inclusive and meaningful PE. Access the course here.
Keeping Your Child Safe in Sport Week 2024
This week in October is bringing parents, carers, clubs and activity providers together to build a safeguarding community to keep children and young people safe.
For Keeping Your Child Safe in Sport Week 2024, the CPSU is asking teams and clubs to host a Team Huddle. This can take place over the summer or in the lead-up to the focus week in October. Read more.
Minister's message to the School Sport & Activity Sector Partnership Summit
Catherine McKinnell MP, the Minister for School Standards spoke virtually at the School Sport & Activity Sector Partnership Summit held at the King Power Stadium in Leicester. At the summit held on Tuesday 24th September, Catherine talked about how PE and School Sport are a major part of the work the new Labour Government are doing, as they plan to open up opportunities in this country.
